Staff Application Engineer - Digital Multi-Phase Controller
Role Summary
Lead validation, characterization, and customer-facing support for digital multi-phase power management products. Work with Product Engineering, R&D, Firmware, and Marketing to define product behavior, configurations, and documentation to meet customer use-cases.
Experience Level
Senior. Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in power management or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include lab validation, cross-functional coordination, test automation, and customer technical support.
- Plan and execute product validation and characterization to demonstrate performance, robustness, and customer fit.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, R&D, Firmware, and Marketing to convert customer requirements into features and roadmap input.
- Design test plans, automate bench measurements where applicable (Python/C), analyze results, and produce concise reports for release and customer communication.
- Create and review customer-facing collateral: datasheets, application notes, user guides, design guidelines, and troubleshooting FAQs.
- Support silicon bring-up and customer configuration (GUI/firmware/PMBus), including loop compensation guidance, sequencing, and telemetry setup.

Must-have: Experience with digitally enabled power management products and applying control loop theory to power converters.

Must-have: Proficiency with lab instruments (network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators) and experience automating lab testing.

Must-have: Proficiency in Python, C, or similar languages for test automation and tooling.

Must-have: Familiarity with PMBus, AVS, or similar power-management protocols.

Must-have: Data analysis skills using Excel, JMP, or equivalent tools.

Must-have: Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-have: Direct experience with multiphase DC/DC converters.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree plus 5 years' relevant experience, or Master's degree plus 3 years' relevant experience in Engineering or a technical field related to power management. Preferred: Bachelor's +8 years or Master's +5 years. Equivalent practical experience in the power management industry may be acceptable.
