Staff Application Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Worldwide Regional Applications group based in Bengaluru, supporting FPGA usage in 5G across core, RAN, and edge solutions. Focus areas include virtualization, performance optimization, security, and DSP algorithm implementation for FPGA platforms.
The role works with R&D teams, field application engineers, distributors, and key customers to enable designs on Agilex device families and deliver technical guidance, reference designs, and training.
Experience Level
Senior / Staff level. The posting specifies a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in 5G, DSP, architecture, design, or implementation.
Responsibilities
Primary day-to-day duties include technical escalation resolution, customer enablement, and cross-team collaboration.
- Manage key customer escalations from root-cause analysis to resolution.
- Support field teams and distributors to improve customer designs and product outcomes.
- Design and implement DSP algorithms for FPGA applications; debug and optimize implementations.
- Participate in cross-organizational development projects; create reference designs and technical collateral.
- Develop and deliver training on new features, methodologies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with R&D and internal design teams to enable next-generation designs on Agilex devices.
- Monitor industry approaches and recommend internal adoption of relevant algorithms and practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in this role.
- Extensive experience with FPGA architecture, RTL-based design flows, and the FPGA/ASIC toolchain.
- Deep understanding of 5G architecture (core, RAN, edge) and practical experience applying 5G technologies.
- Strong DSP skills: design, implementation, verification, and performance optimization on FPGA platforms.
- Proficient in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB for algorithm development and verification.
- Knowledge of transceiver architecture and related design methodologies.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues.
- Excellent technical communication skills; able to explain trade-offs and present concise reports to management.
- Demonstrated teamwork across multiple sites and domains; able to manage variable workloads and priorities.
- Customer-focused mindset and experience handling field escalations and support engagements.
- Nice-to-have: contributions to industry standards (e.g., IEEE) and prior work with Agilex device families.
Education Requirements
