Staff Application Engineer

Role Summary

Senior technical contributor on the Performance Computing Power Applications team focused on system-level solutions for data center and AI server power delivery. The role provides customer-facing debug and validation, supports system validation of new digital multiphase controllers and power stages, and produces application collateral to enable customer designs.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 10 years of experience in the power management industry.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer support, system validation, and technical enablement.

• Travel to customer sites to debug and validate digital multiphase products and resolve complex issues.
• Provide detailed solutions matching customer requirements for server and data center applications.
• Contribute to system validation of new controllers, VPS and SPS products; collaborate with design teams to ensure successful implementation and verification.
• Develop technical collateral such as datasheets, performance reports, and application notes.
• Train and mentor other application and field engineers to broaden product support.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience (degree requirements are listed separately below).

• Must-have: Minimum 10 years experience in the power management industry.
• Must-have: Experience with firmware-enabled products and powering large-scale ASICs (CPUs/GPUs) in the data center market.
• Experience with multiphase DC/DC converters for Intel/AMD/SoC systems.
• Mixed-signal IC and system knowledge; familiarity with digitally enabled power management products.
• Understanding of control loop theory and its application in power converters.
• Proficiency with lab equipment (network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators) and experience automating lab testing.
• Ability to travel to customer sites in Asia and the United States.

Education Requirements

BS degree in engineering required (electrical engineering with power electronics preferred); MS degree preferred.
