Staff Analog/Mixed Signal Engineer
Samsung SemiconductorJob Title
Staff Analog/Mixed Signal Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop high-performance PLL and clocking subsystems for RF transceivers, SerDes, and high-speed I/O in advanced deep-submicron CMOS technologies. Work across architecture, circuit design, verification, layout, lab validation, and production support while collaborating with digital and software teams.
Experience Level
Senior / Staff level.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include circuit design, system modeling, verification, layout, and production support.
- Architect and design PLLs, clock generators, and frequency synthesizers (VCO/DCO, charge-pump, phase detectors, DLL, phase interpolator).
- Design SerDes analog PHY and other high-speed I/O analog circuits.
- Perform mixed-signal system modeling and loop analysis to derive circuit-level specifications.
- Implement and review critical analog/mixed-signal layout.
- Develop test plans, perform lab validation on prototypes, and provide production support and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with digital and software engineers to ensure system-level requirements are met.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Hands-on experience designing PLLs and clocking circuits (VCO, DCO, charge-pump, analog or digital phase detectors, regulators, reference oscillators, buffers).
- Ability to translate PLL loop/system requirements into circuit-level specifications; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with IC design and simulation tools such as Cadence Spectre/SpectreRF, AMS simulators, and MATLAB.
- Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Experience performing critical analog/mixed-signal layout.
- Lab testing skills for prototype evaluation and production verification.
- Clear communication and presentation skills; ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
Nice-to-have: proven SerDes analog PHY design, RF transceiver experience, and direct production-support experience in advanced CMOS processes.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years, Master’s degree plus 8+ years, or PhD plus 5+ years in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
