Job Title
Staff Analog Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver analog and mixed-signal IP for high-speed optical and electrical transceivers. The role is part of the Optical PHY team and focuses on circuit architecture, implementation, verification and handoff to layout, verification, and application teams to move designs from concept to production.
This position is technical and hands-on, contributing to PLLs, ADCs/DACs, TX/RX, CDRs, regulators and related analog blocks for communications infrastructure products.
Experience Level
Senior / Staff-level engineer. The posting targets experienced analog/mixed-signal designers. No additional general years-of-experience guidance is provided outside the education section.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include circuit design, verification, and collaboration across disciplines to deliver production-ready analog IP.
- Architect, design and simulate analog and mixed-signal circuits (PLLs, DLLs, ADCs/DACs, TX/RX, CDRs, regulators, amplifiers, filters, bandgap/bias circuits).
- Perform design verification and analysis using SPICE/Spectre, MATLAB and similar tools; iterate to meet performance targets for speed, power and signal integrity.
- Work with layout, verification and application teams to ensure successful tape-out and production readiness.
- Develop and execute lab validation and prototype testing to verify silicon against specifications.
- Contribute to best practices, documentation and delivery processes for analog IP.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.
- Hands-on mixed-signal design experience across ADCs/DACs, PLLs, RX/TX, CDRs, regulators and related analog blocks.
- Deep knowledge of deep sub-micron CMOS processes and high-speed / low-power design techniques.
- Proficiency with industry CAD and simulation tools such as Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB, HSPICE/Hsim, and Verilog for analog/mixed-signal verification.
- Lab testing and measurement skills to validate prototypes against specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to apply innovative solutions to complex design issues.
- Ability to collaborate across layout, verification and application teams and manage IP delivery to production.
- Nice-to-have: experience with optical transceivers, high-speed serial interfaces and system-level requirements for datacenter/telecom applications.
Education Requirements
Completed a MS in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of related experience, or a PhD in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of related experience, as stated in the posting.
