Staff Analog IC Design Engineer
QorvoJob Title
Staff Analog IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver high-performance analog power management integrated circuits (PMICs and power converters) for mobile, consumer, IoT, and industrial applications. The role owns architecture, transistor-level design, simulation, and validation while coordinating with layout, test, and global teams to meet performance, yield, and manufacturability targets.
Hybrid role with the expectation to be onsite multiple days per week at either the Richardson, TX or San Jose, CA office.
Experience Level
Senior / Staff level. The posting indicates a professional staff role with an expectation of 8+ years of engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and cross-functional delivery of analog power ICs.
- Lead architecture and transistor-level design of high-performance analog power management ICs focused on efficiency, density, and reliability.
- Define product specifications with system engineers and balance performance, power, and cost trade-offs.
- Select and implement circuit topologies optimized for robustness, yield, and manufacturability.
- Perform circuit simulation, validation, and debugging to meet functional and performance targets.
- Collaborate with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning and minimize parasitics affecting silicon performance.
- Coordinate with global design teams to align development strategies and schedules.
- Partner with test and characterization teams to define validation methodologies and production test strategies.
- Prepare technical documentation and present design trade-offs and results to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- At least 8 years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry.
- At least 6 years of analog and mixed-signal IC design experience, including DC–DC power converter architectures and control methods (voltage-mode and current-mode control).
- Proven experience with production release of power management ICs.
- Proficiency with EDA flows and tools relevant to power ICs (parasitic extraction, EMIR and capacitive coupling analysis, floating node analysis, etc.).
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, ADS.
- Nice-to-have: hands-on lab experience supporting high-frequency switching power supplies.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal degree(s).
