Staff Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Technical lead for PMIC analog block design within the Istanbul power-management team. Responsible for guiding complex analog designs from specification through simulation, layout review, lab evaluation and production ramp.

Works cross-functionally with test, applications and customers; mentors junior engineers and drives design methodology improvements.

Experience Level

Senior - requires long experience in IC design. The posting specifies 10+ years of IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design leadership, block ownership and verification for power-management ICs.

• Interpret requirements and define system and design strategy for PMIC products.
• Act as technical project leader or lead designer for major analog blocks, guiding designs to production.
• Design, simulate and supervise layout of CMOS power-management circuits to meet performance, area, power and schedule constraints.
• Perform feasibility studies and ensure designs meet specifications; review delegated work.
• Lead lab evaluation in collaboration with application and test teams; support test development for production ramp.
• Plan and implement top-level simulation and verification activities.
• Support DFT strategy and implementation and partner with test engineers on test development.
• Produce high-quality documentation for developed IP blocks.
• Coach and mentor less-experienced team members and drive personal and team development.
• Serve as customer-facing technical lead and support RFQ activities and other ad hoc tasks.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience for successful performance in the role; nice-to-have items listed where indicated.

• Must-have: 10+ years of IC design experience, with a strong background in analog and power-management design.
• Must-have: Thorough understanding of Bipolar, BiCMOS and CMOS process technologies and analog circuit design techniques.
• Must-have: Design experience in submicron processes and practical understanding of layout tradeoffs.
• Must-have: Experience designing for ESD and latch-up robustness.
• Nice-to-have: Design experience with LDOs, bandgaps, DC-DC switching regulators (buck, boost, charge-pumps), various modulator architectures, integrated power FETs/drivers, current-limit protection, rail-to-rail and precision amplifiers, oscillators, switched-capacitor circuits, comparators, and A/D-D/A converters.
• Nice-to-have: Working knowledge of Cadence mixed-signal tools and parasitic extraction.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with behavioral block-level modeling and analog/mixed-signal verification methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and very good command of English; self-motivated and adaptable.

Education Requirements

Engineering degree (Diploma or M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field; equivalent practical experience also acceptable as stated in the posting.
