Job Title
STA PrimeTime Test & Validation Senior Specialist
Role Summary
Lead validation engineer responsible for owning and executing end-to-end validation of Static Timing Analysis (STA) features and PrimeTime flows. Works with Product Validation, R&D, Product Engineering, and Field teams to define validation strategy, drive quality sign-off, and reduce customer-reported issues.
This role requires technical leadership, mentorship of junior engineers, and improving validation productivity through automation, data analysis, and responsible use of AI-assisted engineering tools.
Experience Level
Senior β requires multiple years of relevant STA/validation experience (see Education Requirements for degree-and-experience guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical ownership of validation, cross-team debugging, and automation.
- Lead validation of complex PrimeTime STA features and flows from requirements through quality sign-off.
- Define and drive validation strategy, test coverage, and sign-off criteria for assigned areas.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to L1/L2 engineers on STA concepts, testcase design, and debugging.
- Reproduce customer scenarios, perform deep-dive debugging and root-cause analysis for cross-component issues.
- Lead functional, regression, stress, accuracy, and sign-off testing for STA features and advanced flows.
- Architect and enhance automation frameworks using Perl, Tcl, and Python to increase productivity and robustness.
- Analyze large-scale validation/regression data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate testcase/script development, debugging, and log analysis while validating AI outputs for correctness.
- Prepare executive-ready validation status, metrics, risk reports, and participate in feature readiness reviews and postmortems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical experience, and professional behaviors. Degrees are listed separately under Education Requirements.
- Strong, hands-on understanding of Static Timing Analysis fundamentals.
- Deep hands-on experience with PrimeTime or equivalent STA tools, advanced timing concepts, SDC constraints, and real-world sign-off scenarios.
- Experience with OCV/AOCV/POCV, derates, PBA, ECO, what-if analysis, and hierarchical/distributed large-scale STA flows.
- Proven ability to debug complex, ambiguous, cross-component issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Strong proficiency in Perl, Tcl, and Python for automation and framework development.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to enhance engineering productivity and validation quality.
- Track record of technical ownership, leadership, and sound decision-making; high standards for quality, rigor, documentation, and sign-off discipline.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 4+ years of relevant experience.
