Job Title
STA PrimeTime Test and Validation Senior Specialist
Role Summary
Senior validation engineer responsible for owning end-to-end validation of PrimeTime static timing analysis (STA) features and flows. Acts as a technical lead and subject-matter expert, coordinating across Product Validation, R&D, Product Engineering, and Field teams to ensure feature quality and readiness.
Responsible for defining validation strategy, mentoring engineers, driving automation and data-driven debugging, and communicating executive-ready quality metrics.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: approximately 4β5+ years of relevant industry experience; see Education Requirements for degree and specific experience expectations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ownership of validation strategy, cross-team debugging, automation, and reporting:
- Lead and own validation of complex PrimeTime STA features and flows from requirement analysis through quality sign-off.
- Define validation strategy, coverage, and sign-off criteria for assigned functional areas.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to L1/L2 engineers on STA concepts, testcase design, and debugging approaches.
- Reproduce customer scenarios, perform deep-dive debugging, and conduct root-cause analysis for cross-component issues.
- Drive functional, regression, stress, accuracy, and sign-off-oriented testing for STA features and advanced flows.
- Architect and enhance automation frameworks to improve productivity, robustness, and validation coverage.
- Analyze large-scale validation and regression data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate testcase and script development, log analysis, and documentation, while validating outputs for correctness.
- Prepare and present executive-ready validation status, quality metrics, risks, and recommendations; participate in readiness reviews and postmortems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and professional behaviors required for success.
- Strong, hands-on understanding of Static Timing Analysis fundamentals and advanced timing concepts.
- Deep hands-on experience with PrimeTime or equivalent STA tools and large-scale, hierarchical STA flows.
- Experience with SDC constraints, OCV/AOCV/POCV, derates, PBA, ECO, and what-if analysis flows.
- Proven ability to debug complex, ambiguous, cross-component issues and drive root-cause fixes.
- Strong proficiency in Perl, Tcl, and Python for automation and framework development.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity and validation quality.
- Track record of technical ownership, leadership, rigorous documentation, and sign-off discipline.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 4+ years of relevant experience.
