SSD Hardware Architect
Role Summary
As a Hardware Architect on Micron's SSD team you will define hardware architectures, drive power and signal-integrity decisions, and move designs from concept to production. The role works cross-functionally with firmware, systems, validation and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance SSD platforms.
The team focuses on hardware for next-generation storage; this position influences system-level performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 10+ years of experience in hardware design and system architecture.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include system-level architecture, power integrity, simulation, and cross-team collaboration.
- Define hardware architectures and participate in design reviews and requirements development for SSD products.
- Design power topologies and ensure robust power integrity across subsystems.
- Simulate and analyze designs; provide recommendations to improve performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with firmware, system, validation, and manufacturing teams to meet product and DFx requirements.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across the hardware team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 10+ years experience in hardware design and system architecture.
- Strong foundation in circuit design, transmission line fundamentals, and power & signal integrity.
- Experience with PCB design, high-speed routing, stack-ups, and power subsystem implementation.
- Proficiency with simulation tools such as SPICE, IBIS, or Hspice.
- Working knowledge of commercially available PMICs and voltage regulators for low-voltage designs.
- Hands-on power integrity analysis and ability to use lab data to validate designs.
- Experience designing for large-scale manufacturing and DFx considerations (preferred).
- Strong communication skills and experience mentoring engineers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred.
