Senior System Software Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and maintain embedded Linux drivers and board support packages for Ambarella SoC platforms, focusing on video and audio subsystems and system performance. Provide technical support to global customers and work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to integrate and deliver products.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum three years of relevant embedded Linux or driver development experience; master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include driver development, kernel upgrades, and customer support.

• Develop, optimize, and maintain Linux device drivers and BSPs for Ambarella SoCs (examples: USB, Ethernet, NAND/NOR, SD/EMMC, PCIe).
• Implement and maintain video and audio-related software for embedded Linux systems.
• Work with display and camera interfaces such as LCD, HDMI, MIPI CSI/DSI, and LVDS.
• Upgrade and evaluate Linux kernel versions and analyze system performance.
• Provide technical support to global customers and assist with product integration.
• Collaborate with other departments and produce technical documentation for clients and internal teams.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Strong proficiency in C and ARM assembly programming.
• Proven experience in Linux driver development and writing Makefiles.
• Hands-on experience with video/image interfaces (LCD, HDMI, MIPI CSI/DSI, LVDS).
• At least three years of relevant embedded software or driver development experience.
• Good oral and written English communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with U-Boot, Linux kernel internals, or Yocto build systems.
• Experience with hardware design or low-level board bring-up.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
