Job Title
Sr. Staff SoC Power & Performance Architect
Role Summary
As a senior SoC power and performance architect, you will define and drive system- and chip-level power, performance, and thermal architecture for Ambiq's low-power SoCs. You will partner with digital/analog design, verification, physical design, firmware, and system teams to set power/performance targets, model trade-offs, and guide implementation and silicon bring-up.
This role is on-site five days per week in NW Austin, TX.
Experience Level
Senior β senior-level SoC power and performance architect. Specific years of experience were not stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and document system- and chip-level power and performance requirements and targets.
- Develop power/performance models, budgets, and trade-off analyses across architecture, RTL, and physical implementation.
- Drive low-power strategies (DVFS, power gating, clock gating, power domains, voltage islands) and coordinate implementation across teams.
- Collaborate with RTL, verification, physical design, firmware, and silicon bring-up teams to meet targets and handoff deliverables.
- Lead root-cause analysis and optimization during bring-up, characterization, and post-silicon tuning.
- Mentor engineers, coordinate cross-functional reviews, and present technical findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience architecting power and performance for complex SoCs.
- Strong understanding of low-power design techniques and system-level trade-offs.
- Experience with power/performance modeling, budgeting, and analysis methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with RTL, synthesis, floorplanning, timing, and power-signoff flows and data exchange between teams.
- Experience with silicon characterization, power measurements, and debug during bring-up.
- Proficiency with scripting for analysis and automation (for example, Python or Tcl).
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with sub-threshold or near-threshold designs and ultra-low-power architectures.
- Background in embedded/mobile/IoT SoC platforms and power-constrained systems.
Education Requirements
