Sr. Staff R&D Engineer
Role Summary
Senior software engineer on the RedHawk-SC R&D team building distributed power and reliability analysis tools for advanced SoC designs. Work includes feature design, implementation, performance optimization, and test coverage for production C++ software running on Linux.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Role expects substantial independent ownership and leadership on medium-sized projects; experience typically at or above 8 years of professional engineering work.
Responsibilities
Deliver and maintain production-quality features in a distributed analytics platform focused on semiconductor power and reliability.
- Design, implement, and own significant features in RedHawk-SC from design through delivery.
- Drive medium-sized projects with limited oversight and coordinate with architects and technical leads.
- Optimize runtime performance and memory use to scale across large datasets.
- Diagnose and resolve complex C++ defects on Linux; improve reliability and maintainability.
- Develop and strengthen unit, regression, and system-level tests; participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate solutions and raise engineering quality standards.
Requirements

- Strong C++ development skills, including debugging, performance optimization, and memory management.
- Extensive Linux development experience.
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and debugging complex software systems.
- Understanding of electronic design at gate or transistor level, including power delivery networks, timing, or physical design.
- Experience developing software for performance, scale, and reliability in production environments.
- Experience with distributed systems and building scalable analytics platforms.
- Nice-to-have: Python experience and background in ASIC power delivery network simulation.
Education Requirements
Degree and years guidance from the posting: BSEE or BSCS (or related field) with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with ~6+ years; or PhD with relevant experience. (The posting pairs degree level with corresponding experience requirements.)
