Role Summary
The Principal Digital Design Engineer will join the Automotive Battery Management System IC Design Team at Renesas. This role involves working on next-generation IC products for consumer power applications, managing design processes, and collaborating with various teams across the organization.
Experience Level
Senior level with 8–17 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in the design team for Automotive MCU and BMS products.
- Collaborating with hardware architects to define safety mechanisms.
- Taking ownership of safety analysis engineering methods throughout product development.
- Working closely with system architects and design teams across various domains.
- Defining digital architecture and micro-architecture of IPs.
- Being responsible for all aspects of digital design from specification to silicon integration.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving.
- Mentoring design team members on technical topics.
- Collaborating with analog designers for effective interface integration.
Requirements
Qualifications include:
- Experience with functional safety mechanisms such as lockstep CPUs, watchdogs, and ECC.
- Hands-on experience in microcontroller development.
- Strong understanding of safety architectures for MCUs and automotive ECUs.
- Experience in leading digital design teams and collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog and scripting.
- Knowledge of embedded systems and automotive software development.
- Experience with silicon bring-up and debugging.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education Requirements
M.S./M.Tech or B.S./B.E. in Electronics or a related field.
