Soc Engineering Staff Engineer

Role Summary

The role involves independently owning and driving full RTL2GDSII physical design implementation for advanced process nodes, ensuring successful tape-outs. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges and contribute to continuous improvement in design methodologies.

Experience Level

Senior-level position with at least 5 years of relevant experience in physical design, particularly in advanced technology nodes (7nm, 5nm, or 3nm).

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

• Executing synthesis, place & route, clock tree synthesis (CTS), timing optimization, and static timing analysis (STA).
• Performing block-level and full-chip floor-planning, physical verification, EMIR analysis, and timing closure activities.
• Utilizing Synopsys EDA tools for delivering optimal silicon solutions.
• Developing automation scripts to improve design flows and efficiency.
• Contributing to design methodology improvements and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications include:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in physical design with proven skills in RTL2GDSII flows.
• Expertise in Synopsys EDA tools such as Design Compiler, IC Compiler II, and PrimeTime.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, PERL, TCL, or similar languages.
• Solid understanding of timing closure and floor-planning techniques.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree (BE/BTech/MTech or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
