Sr. Staff Hardware Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior hands-on hardware engineer responsible for end-to-end hardware system development for Tensordyne's AI inference products. The role spans schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, vendor qualification, compliance and test planning, and collaboration with ASIC, software, product and operations teams.

This position owns lab bring-up artifacts, reference platforms and production product handoff to manufacturing.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 10+ years of hardware engineering and product-cycle experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical ownership across hardware system engineering and cross-functional coordination.

  • Own multiple aspects of hardware system engineering for flagship AI products.
  • Gather requirements and specifications from engineering, product and operations teams.
  • Design and deliver schematics and PCB layouts for complex custom AI ASIC-based systems.
  • Lead component selection, AVL management and vendor qualification with manufacturing operations.
  • Plan and drive compliance, validation, FMEA analysis and test strategies (EVT/DVT/PVT coordination).
  • Coordinate mechanical and thermal design considerations and manufacturability tradeoffs.
  • Support hardware bring-up, debugging and transfer to contract manufacturers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate impact.

  • 10+ years of hardware engineering experience across product development cycles.
  • Hands-on proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design processes.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, mechanical and thermal design considerations.
  • Experience with part selection, AVL processes and collaboration with manufacturing operations.
  • Solid understanding of CPU subsystems and modern power subsystem designs; strong HW bring-up skills.
  • Experience representing engineering requirements in contract manufacturing relationships.
  • Self-starter, able to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.

Education Requirements

B.S. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
