Sr Staff Engineer, Product Marketing
RenesasJob Title
Sr Staff Engineer, Product Marketing
Role Summary
Senior product marketing role combining datacenter server-system expertise with MCU-based platform-management and control-plane product definition. Works with hyperscalers, OEMs/ODMs, and ecosystem partners to translate system requirements into silicon, firmware, reference solutions, roadmaps, and go-to-market plans.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects approximately 8+ years of relevant experience in system architecture, server platform management, embedded systems, semiconductor product definition, or related technical product management.
Responsibilities
Define product requirements and lead cross-functional execution from concept through launch and customer design-in.
- Define MCU requirements for distributed platform management, satellite controllers, and BMC companion solutions across compute, accelerator, storage, power, and cooling systems.
- Translate customer and market input into MRDs, business cases, roadmap proposals, and investment priorities.
- Define use cases for rack-level monitoring/control, power sequencing, sensor aggregation, telemetry, thermal management, fault reporting, and recovery.
- Specify complete solutions: silicon, embedded firmware, management-protocol stacks, SDKs, tools/GUIs, and reference designs.
- Lead technical discovery with hyperscaler platform teams, OEMs/ODMs, BMC/firmware vendors, and ecosystem partners.
- Track and map implications of industry standards (OCP, MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, Redfish) to product and interoperability requirements.
- Create positioning, messaging, launch plans, sales enablement materials, and competitive briefs.
- Support sales, field applications, and customer engineering during design-in and deployment.
- Lead product concept, roadmap, and launch readiness reviews; align silicon and firmware schedules with customer platforms.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven experience in system architecture, server platform management, embedded systems, semiconductor product definition, technical product management, or applications engineering.
- Deep knowledge of server motherboards, CPU/GPU/AI accelerator platforms, storage backplanes, and power/cooling subsystems and their management interfaces.
- Strong understanding of BMC-based out-of-band management and the role of satellite management controllers and MCU/RTOS firmware.
- Working knowledge of MCTP transport, PLDM monitoring/control and firmware update, SPDM authentication, and Redfish integration concepts.
- Familiarity with sideband interfaces (I2C/SMBus, I3C, SPI, UART, GPIO, PMBus) and their implications for connectivity, latency, reliability, and MCU design.
- Experience defining secure, software-enabled controllers: secure boot, hardware root of trust, device identity, signed firmware updates, recovery, SDKs, and reference designs.
- Experience with server bring-up, power sequencing, telemetry, fault diagnostics, firmware lifecycle management, and customer design-ins with hyperscalers/OEMs/ODMs.
- Ability to create product requirements, business cases, roadmaps, and go-to-market plans, and to communicate with executive and technical audiences.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and ability to align product line, architecture, silicon, software, applications, sales, and customer teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and customer-facing materials.
Preferred: experience with hyperscaler or enterprise servers, GPU/AI accelerator trays, rack management, power shelves, fan or liquid-cooling management; exposure to OpenBMC, OCP DC-SCM/DC-SCI, and interoperability testing of MCTP/PLDM/SPDM endpoints.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is stated; the posting expects ~8+ years of relevant experience. An advanced degree in engineering or business is listed as preferred, or equivalent senior product strategy experience.
