Sr. Staff Engineer, PCIe Validation
Role Summary
Lead validation of high-speed PCIe interfaces across controller, PHY, and system integration for next-generation AI compute hardware. Work in a cross-disciplinary engineering team to bring hardware to production quality through lab validation, firmware bring-up, and system-level debugging.
This position is a hybrid role based in Vancouver, BC, Canada; the engineer will be hands-on in the lab and coordinate with firmware and software teams.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading PCIe validation and system bring-up, troubleshooting across hardware/firmware/software boundaries, and collaborating with multiple engineering teams.
- Plan and execute validation and bring-up of PCIe controllers and PHYs.
- Lead lab bring-up using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, JTAG and other instrumentation.
- Triage and debug complex hardware/firmware/software interactions to identify root cause and recommend fixes.
- Develop test plans, verification procedures, and automated tests for interface validation.
- Collaborate with HW, FW, and SW teams to integrate features and resolve issues during product qualification.
- Document validation results, failure modes, and mitigation strategies.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of validation practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience relevant to PCIe and system validation; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must have: Proven experience validating high-speed PCIe interfaces (controller and PHY) and performing lab bring-up.
- Must have: Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and JTAG.

- Must have: Experience working across HW/FW/SW teams to bring up features and resolve system issues.
- Nice to have: Firmware development experience (C/C++) and scripting (Python) for test automation and tools.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with PCIe protocol specifications, multi-die/chiplet systems, or prior ASIC/SoC validation experience.
- Nice to have: Experience with RISC-V or AI/ML compute platforms.
