Job Title

Sr. Staff Engineer, Applications Engineering

Role Summary

Customer-facing applications engineer responsible for deploying, debugging, and optimizing hardware emulation and prototyping platforms for ASIC and SoC verification. The role combines hands-on technical work on customer designs, pre-sales demonstrations, and collaboration with sales, R&D, and marketing to improve product fit and drive adoption.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 6–10 years of hands-on experience in IC design, verification, emulation, or FPGA prototyping.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include customer engagements, technical troubleshooting, and driving successful emulation deployments.

  • Deploy, configure, and bring up emulation and prototyping platforms for customer ASIC/SoC verification.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning RTL, testbenches (SystemVerilog), platform configuration, and software/firmware.
  • Lead pre-sales technical evaluations and proof-of-concept demonstrations using customer designs.
  • Work directly with customer engineering teams to address failing testbenches, performance bottlenecks, and integration issues.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and R&D to communicate customer requirements and field issues.
  • Produce application notes, reference designs, setup guides, and best-practice documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share field knowledge to improve team capability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • 6–10 years of hands-on experience supporting ASIC or SoC verification projects.
  • Deep knowledge of verification methodologies: simulation, emulation, and prototyping.
  • Proficiency in HDLs (Verilog, VHDL) and strong experience with SystemVerilog testbenches and assertions.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ for software validation, firmware debug, or performance analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for issues spanning RTL, testbenches, platform config, and software integration.
  • Excellent communication skills for direct customer interaction and cross-functional collaboration.
  • (Preferred) Hands-on experience with hardware emulation platforms or FPGA-based prototyping; ability to read and debug RTL and embedded software.
