Senior SOC Emulation Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Validate full-chip client SoC designs for next-generation Intel client CPUs using emulation and pre-silicon validation platforms. Define validation strategy, develop emulation models and HW/SW collateral, and work with design and architecture teams to find and resolve functional issues before silicon.

Drive improvements in emulation usability, automation, and ML/AI-based validation initiatives to increase quality and efficiency.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 8+ years of experience in emulation and pre-silicon validation.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include building and operating emulation platforms for full-chip validation and enabling SoC validation teams to use emulation effectively.

• Create emulation models from RTL and document required RTL changes for emulation.
• Develop and integrate hardware and software collateral with emulation models.
• Test, debug, and validate emulation models and associated collateral to exercise boundary and corner cases.
• Design and implement HW/SW tools, acceleration features, and automation to improve RTL validation throughput and emulation usability.
• Work with IU/SoC validation teams to optimize test suites and methodologies for efficient emulation use.
• Develop flows, scripts, and automation to improve equipment utilization and repeatability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for day-one contribution.

Must-have:

• Extensive hands-on experience with full-chip emulation and pre-silicon functional validation.
• Experience creating and debugging emulation models derived from RTL.
• Proven ability to develop and integrate hardware and software test collateral with emulation platforms.
• Strong scripting and automation skills to build flows and improve emulation efficiency.
• Experience collaborating with architects and RTL teams to define validation requirements and RTL changes.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience developing acceleration capabilities or HW/SW tooling specific to emulation.
• Familiarity with ML/AI techniques applied to validation or test optimization.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. The role specifies at least 8 years of experience in emulation.
