Sr. RTL IP Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior front-end RTL/IP design engineer in the Networking Technology Solutions Group responsible for defining IP features, creating technical specifications, and delivering front-end RTL and integration needed for first-pass silicon success in data-center networking products.
Work cross-functionally with architecture, IP design, physical design, verification, and product teams to develop and deliver high-quality networking IP solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β requires a minimum of 12 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on RTL/IP specification, front-end implementation, cross-functional technical leadership, and post-silicon support.
- Define product features and micro-architecture; author technical specifications for IP blocks.
- Work with IP/domain architects to identify technical risks and define mitigation strategies.
- Deliver high-quality RTL with supporting simulation, lint, CDC, synthesis artifacts, and hand-off documentation.
- Collaborate with physical design for area, floorplan refinement, timing targets, and sign-off.
- Participate in verification test-plan reviews and ensure design qualification metrics are met.
- Support post-silicon debug and resolution of performance, power, and functional issues.
- Mentor team members and contribute to platform and system architecture knowledge sharing.
Requirements
Core technical and professional requirements.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in silicon IP development and front-end design.
- Strong Verilog RTL design and simulation skills; proven experience with linting, CDC analysis, and synthesis flows.
- Experience with RTL scripting and design qualification processes.
- Proven experience developing networking IP such as Ethernet and related security protocol implementations.
- Experience collaborating across architecture, physical design, verification, and product teams across geographies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; experience briefing technical and executive audiences.
- PCIe knowledge is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
