Sr. RTL Design Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Senior RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join AMD's Design Engineering team to design, integrate, and verify RTL for IP blocks, subsystems and SoCs. The role focuses on delivering high-quality silicon through design ownership, static checks, constraint development, and collaboration with cross-site stakeholders.
This position requires disciplined engineering practice and a preference for measurable technical results over generic marketing statements.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 5+ years of relevant RTL/VLSI design and integration experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will own RTL design/integration tasks and ensure design quality and timing closure across the RTL-to-SoC flow.
- Develop and maintain RTL for in-house and vendor IP, subsystems, and SoC integration.
- Perform and drive static quality checks (LINT, CDC, RDC, CLP/VCLP) and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain timing and power constraints (SDC, UPF) and associated scripts.
- Collaborate with verification, physical design, and system teams to achieve timing closure.
- Validate verification robustness and participate in design reviews and sign-off activities.
- Troubleshoot functional and timing issues and implement corrective design changes.
- Communicate and coordinate across teams in different sites and time zones.
Requirements
Required skills and experience are listed below; preferred items are indicated separately.
- Must-have: Proven RTL design and digital verification experience; strong VLSI fundamentals including FIFO and arbitration techniques.
- Must-have: Experience with static QC flows (LINT, CDC, RDC, CLP/VCLP) and with defining/using SDC and UPF constraints.
- Must-have: Experience integrating IPs and achieving timing closure across subsystem/SoC boundaries.
- Must-have: Good communication, collaboration across distributed teams, and problem-solving skills.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with industry protocols such as PCIe and AMBA.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with QC tool flows and IPXACT.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, VLSI, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. The posting specifies 5+ years of relevant experience.
