Sr RF Filter Design Engineer (m/f/d)
QorvoJob Title
Sr RF Filter Design Engineer (m/f/d)
Role Summary
Design and develop BAW and SAW filtering components and front-end module elements for mobile wireless applications. Work in a cross-functional RF team to deliver simulation, layout, characterization, and transfer-to-production for state-of-the-art RF filters and modules.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting indicates 3+ years of relevant experience alongside an advanced degree as guidance, and the role carries senior-level responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, simulation, validation and production handoff of acoustic RF filters and modules.
- Develop BAW and SAW filtering components (bandpass, ladder, notch, CRF, acoustic-assisted, etc.) for wireless RF applications.
- Perform acoustic and electromagnetic (EM) simulations and trade studies using commercial and internal tools; produce final device layouts for photomask creation.
- Work with process engineers and R&D to account for fabrication process variations and capabilities in designs.
- Collaborate with characterization and test teams to evaluate and diagnose devices using RF/microwave test equipment.
- Support product definition via feasibility studies and competitive technical analysis.
- Document designs, methods and product information; support transfer of new products to production and continuous improvement of design flow and cycle time.
Requirements
Concise list of required and preferred skills. Degree requirements are summarized separately below.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with RF circuit design, impedance matching, filter evaluation, RF characterization and system-level measurements.
- Must-have: Proficient with EM and circuit simulation tools such as HFSS, AWR, ADS or similar.
- Must-have: Knowledge of front-end radio architecture, communication systems, microelectronics technology and fabrication process basics.
- Must-have: Experience producing device layouts and collaborating with process/test teams to move designs into production.
- Must-have: Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to work independently in a collaborative engineering team.
- Nice-to-have: Direct experience designing BAW or SAW devices and filter topologies.
- Nice-to-have: Programming or scripting skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python scripting) for automation and analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing, statistical analysis, Six Sigma methods, and wireless protocols/standards.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and practical experience. PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.
