Sr. Product Application Engineer
Role Summary
Senior customer-facing engineering role supporting AMD Adaptive Computing and FPGA solutions. You'll work with sales, field teams, customers, partners, and internal engineering to drive architecture, proof-of-concept, implementation, optimization, and deployment of FPGA-based systems.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and hands-on support across customer engagements from pre-sales through production.
- Act as trusted technical advisor for FPGA and Adaptive Computing solutions.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to customers, partners, and field teams.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, system-level, and design flow issues via simulation, emulation, lab debugging, and on-site support.
- Conduct technical design reviews and help customers optimize for performance and timing closure.
- Develop reference designs, demos, application notes, and implementation guidance.
- Support strategic opportunities with architecture recommendations, technical evaluations, and proof-of-concepts.
- Deliver technical presentations, workshops, and training for customers and partners.
- Collaborate with ecosystem partners and provide field feedback to product management, engineering, documentation, and software teams.
- Support new product introductions and define best practices and design methodologies.
Requirements
Core technical and customer-facing skills required; preferred items listed separately.
Must-have:
- Practical experience with FPGA, SoC, Adaptive Computing, or embedded systems design and support.
- Experience with hardware description languages and digital design methodologies (VHDL, Verilog, or similar).
- Familiarity with FPGA development flows: synthesis, implementation, simulation, and toolchains.
- Hands-on hardware and system-level debugging using standard lab equipment and tools.
- Understanding of timing analysis, timing closure methodologies, and performance optimization.
- Proven ability to support customer designs through architecture, implementation, validation, and optimization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience engaging with technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple customer engagements and priorities in a fast-paced environment; collaborate with sales, product management, and engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Processor and embedded system design experience (ARM-based ecosystems).
- Software development experience in C/C++, OpenCL, OpenGL, Linux, or scripting.
- Experience with compilers, debuggers, profilers, emulators, and third-party development environments.
- Knowledge of RF data converters, signal processing, analog PCB design, signal integrity, or power delivery concepts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Master's degree or advanced technical qualifications are a plus. Relevant FPGA, embedded systems, semiconductor, or software development certifications are desirable.
