Job Title

Sr Principal VLSI Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development of VLSI test architectures, methodologies, and verification approaches across HPE product lines. Provide technical leadership, influence technology roadmaps, and mentor engineering teams to enable reliable prototype and production VLSI solutions.

Hybrid role based in Sunnyvale, CA with an expected on-site cadence of approximately two days per week.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 12+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for VLSI test strategy, architecture, and cross-team technical guidance.

• Define and develop organization-wide test architectures and methodologies across platforms.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and recommend new technologies and vendor/partner relationships.
• Plan integration of test capabilities into product architectures.
• Review and evaluate product designs, materials, and components for compliance and risk mitigation.
• Design and select empirical analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies to validate designs.
• Provide technical consultation and influence executive and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers; promote best practices in test engineering.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in VLSI test engineering, test architecture, and hardware system evaluation.
• Proven ability to design and develop testing tools, automation frameworks, and supporting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in empirical validation and modeling.
• Track record of influencing technical decisions at program and executive levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience mentoring engineering teams.
• Experience working with outsourced testing partners and coordinating across organizations (preferred).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. (Degree fields listed in source; equivalent experience accepted.)
