Job Title

Sr. Principal Product Engineer

Role Summary

Product engineer in the Digital and Signoff Group supporting place-and-route and PPA (performance, power, area) for advanced chip-design tools. Collaborates with R&D, application engineering, and product marketing to benchmark, analyze, and improve tool flows used by customers and foundries.

The role focuses on technical problem solving, optimisation, and acting as a liaison between customers/foundries and internal development teams.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires around 10+ years of hands-on experience with industry-standard place-and-route tools (or ~7 years with a Master’s degree).

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include technical support, benchmarking, and optimization across place-and-route and PPA workflows.

  • Provide place-and-route expertise to customers and internal development teams.
  • Perform PPA benchmarking on customer and foundry test cases; evaluate the impact of new features on PPA.
  • Act as liaison for new features between customers/foundries and R&D development teams.
  • Develop point solutions and automation using scripting.
  • Mine and analyze data to identify PPA-limiting issues and optimization opportunities.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 10+ years hands-on experience with industry-standard place-and-route tools (7 years with a Master’s degree).
  • Strong understanding of the RTL-to-GDSII flow.
  • Familiarity with PDK and design kit (DK) collateral and usage.
  • Solid knowledge of timing and power analysis.
  • Proficient scripting skills for automation and point solutions.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; Master’s preferred. The posting allows equivalent practical experience. (Note: the employer specifies 10 years of hands-on experience, or ~7 years when the candidate holds a Master’s degree.)
