Sr. Principal Product Engineer

Role Summary

Product Engineer in the Digital and Signoff Group (DSG) responsible for place-and-route (P&R) expertise, driving RTL-to-GDSII methodology development, and collaborating with R&D and customer teams to deliver robust physical design and signoff solutions.

Primary mission: diagnose and resolve tool and flow issues, execute design benchmarking, and develop customized flows and scripts to meet customer PPA and timing closure goals at advanced process nodes.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on technical leadership for physical design, customer engagement, and product quality assurance.

  • Serve as primary P&R technical resource for internal R&D teams and external customers.
  • Collaborate with R&D to track, diagnose, and resolve software and flow issues to support stable releases.
  • Execute competitive benchmarks and PPA analyses to demonstrate product advantages.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain customized RTL-to-GDSII methodologies, scripts, and automation to meet customer design goals.
  • Provide technical debugging and actionable solutions for timing closure, DRC, and signoff problems.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Deep understanding of the full ASIC design flow (RTL-to-GDSII), with emphasis on physical design, timing analysis, and DRC.
  • Hands-on experience achieving timing closure and optimizing power, performance, and area (PPA) at advanced nodes (7nm, 5nm, or below).
  • Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools for placement, routing, and signoff.
  • Strong scripting skills (Tcl, Python, or Perl).
  • Strong verbal and written communication to translate complex technical issues into actionable solutions for customers and engineering teams.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with AI-driven productivity tools.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering (EE) plus 5+ years industry experience, OR Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering (EE) plus 3+ years of digital implementation experience. (Degrees and specific year guidance are stated in the posting.)
