Job Title
Sr Principal Engineer, CPU Verification
Role Summary
Join the CPU verification team to plan and execute functional verification of CPU cores, cache subsystems, and coherency controllers. The role focuses on creating verification strategies, developing testbenches and tests, and driving coverage closure for high-performance processor designs.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 15+ years of experience in design verification, preferably with CPU or SoC verification.
Responsibilities
Deliver coverage-driven verification for CPU cores and related subsystems and support automation and collaboration with architects and designers.
- Perform functional verification of CPU cores, cache controllers, and coherency subsystems.
- Interpret microarchitectural specifications and define verification strategies and plans.
- Develop testbenches and create directed and constrained-random test cases in SystemVerilog, C, and Assembly.
- Build and use UVM-based environments for coverage-driven verification and analyze coverage reports to close gaps.
- Automate regression and verification flows using Python, Perl, or Shell scripting.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and designers to ensure design correctness and performance.
- Participate in design and verification reviews and maintain verification artifacts and documentation.
- Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) requirements in all activities.
Requirements
Key technical and professional requirements for the role.
Must-have
- 15+ years of experience in design verification, with strong preference for CPU or SoC verification experience.
- Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog, UVM, and constrained-random verification methodologies.
- Familiarity with CPU architectures such as RISC-V, ARM, or MIPS.
- Basic understanding of cache and coherency concepts.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Perl, or Shell) to automate regressions and flows.
Nice-to-have
- Exposure to RISC-V architecture in verification projects.
- Knowledge of interconnect protocols such as AXI, ACE, or CHI.
- Experience with FPGA prototyping or emulation platforms.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering specified.
