Senior Principal Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Engineer in Qorvo's High Performance Analog (HPA) group developing reference designs and RF matching networks to demonstrate and optimize RF and power semiconductor products across communications, aerospace/defense, and broadband applications.

Main mission: support customers and sales with technical solutions, enable product integration through design-in, documentation, and benchmarking.

Experience Level

Senior - 15+ years of relevant RF applications engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include customer support, reference design development, and cross-functional collaboration:

  • Develop and implement RF matching networks and reference designs for power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, RF switches, attenuators, and filters.
  • Provide technical support to customers and the sales team; determine customer requirements and recommend solutions.
  • Troubleshoot customer system implementations using Qorvo products.
  • Create application documentation: datasheets, application notes, evaluation boards, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with design teams and product line managers on product introductions and customer requirements.
  • Perform competitive technical analysis and product benchmarking.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted where appropriate.

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in RF applications engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with RF semiconductors for power amplifiers, LNAs, RF switches, attenuators, and filters.
  • Proficient with lab instruments: spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience designing and implementing RF matching networks and reference designs.
  • Capability to perform nonlinear simulations using ADS or Microwave Office (MWO).
  • Customer-facing experience coordinating with sales and system integrators.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) required; Master’s degree preferred, with a focus on RF/Microwave engineering or a closely related technical field.
