Job Title

Sr. Manager, Silicon Design Engineering

Role Summary

Lead static timing analysis (STA) and clocking strategy for complex SoC and IP designs, including chiplet and 3D stack interfaces. Drive timing-closure methodologies, collaborate with IP, domain, CAD and methodology teams, and ensure delivery of high-performance, power-efficient silicon.

Role includes people management; remote work is permitted.

Experience Level

Senior. Typically requires a Master’s plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s plus 6 years of relevant experience in silicon or ASIC physical design/STA and engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership for STA and timing closure, architectural analysis, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Develop and establish timing-closure methodologies and strategies for SoC and IP blocks.
  • Oversee STA closure for complex SoC designs, including chiplet and 3D stack interfaces.
  • Lead global clock tree construction, analysis, and clocking architecture.
  • Scope and assess feature changes; set timing targets and secure performance sign-offs.
  • Collaborate with IP, domain, CAD, methodology, and design teams to resolve technical risks.
  • Support post-silicon debugging and resolution of timing issues.
  • Manage silicon design projects and supervise engineering teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience (non-exhaustive):

  • Proven experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and back-end EDA tools for physical implementation.
  • Experience overseeing physical design of deep-submicron digital ASICs, including floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, and timing closure.
  • Proficiency with ASIC design toolchain: synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, and static timing analysis.
  • Scripting skills in TCL, Perl, or Python to automate design flows.
  • Demonstrated STA closure ownership and timing-closure delivery on large designs.
  • Expertise in global clock tree design and PPA optimization.
  • Proven experience managing silicon design projects and leading engineering teams.
  • No travel required for this role.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required; employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree in those fields plus six years of relevant experience. Foreign equivalents are acceptable.
