Sr. Layout Engineer — Memory CAD, Guadalajara

Role Summary

Senior layout/CAD engineer responsible for developing and maintaining physical-design automation, P‑cells, and layout verification flows for advanced memory products (DRAM, HBM and related technologies). Works with PI and design teams to implement layout methodologies and support tapeout-ready flows.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in design automation or analog layout.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include developing CAD software and automation, producing validated layout components, and supporting physical design and tapeout workflows.

• Develop, maintain, and support CAD tools and automation for product and process development.
• Build and validate P‑cells, layout utilities, and automation scripts for layout and verification.
• Design and maintain automation for physical design, verification, optimization, and tapeout flows.
• Collaborate with PI engineers and design teams to define and implement layout methodologies.
• Apply CMOS process and design-rule knowledge to layout implementation and verification.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• Must-have: 5+ years experience in design automation or analog layout.
• Must-have: Proficiency with scripting/programming: SKILL or Python preferred; experience with C, C++, Java, Visual Basic, Perl, or Lisp also acceptable.
• Must-have: Experience with Unix and shell scripting.
• Must-have: Understanding of PDK development, validation, and EDA tool flows.
• Nice-to-have: VLSI circuit design experience and familiarity with IC CAD tools for schematics, layout, simulation, and verification.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of CMOS trade-offs (area, speed, power) and experience delivering production-grade ML applications in IC design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master’s or PhD preferred. Relevant fields: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering.
