Role Summary
The Sr Field Applications Engineer (FAE) provides technical leadership and hands-on support for automotive customers integrating Ultra-Wideband (UWB) solutions. The role partners with product management, engineering, sales and customer teams to enable Fira and Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) compliant UWB deployments.
Primary focus areas include embedded software support, system-level debugging, RF validation, and guiding customers through hardware/software integration and compliance testing.

Responsibilities
The FAE will support customer integration, troubleshoot system-level issues, and coordinate internally to deliver production-capable solutions.
- Provide in-depth technical assistance to automotive customers integrating UWB, ensuring compliance with FiRa and CCC standards.
- Work with customers to define requirements and develop customized UWB solutions, focusing on embedded Linux and C implementations.
- Diagnose and resolve integration issues across software, hardware, and system levels (PHY/MAC).
- Perform RF validation and debugging; interpret results to guide design and firmware changes.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and sales to align product capabilities with customer needs.
- Maintain awareness of UWB, automotive communication protocols, and industry standards; share findings with the team.
- Travel domestically to customer sites as project requirements dictate.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities.
- Embedded software development in C with substantial hands-on experience (tools: Git, GCC, make).
- Experience with microcontroller platforms, notably ARM Cortex-M families.
- Experience with embedded Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS), including SPI operations, secure boot, flash access and profiling.
- Hands-on RF validation and debugging experience; ability to interpret PHY and MAC level behavior for UWB or similar wireless systems.
- Operational familiarity with test instrumentation: oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, multimeter, lab power supply.
- Strong analytical and technical communication skills; proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility for domestic travel to customer sites.
- Nice-to-have: experience with Matter, ZigBee, Bluetooth Low Energy, Thread or other wireless connectivity standards.
Education Requirements
