Sr. Engineer, Systems Debug
TenstorrentJob Title
Senior Engineer, Systems Debug
Role Summary
Lead post-silicon and system-level debug for Tenstorrent AI accelerator platforms. Work across silicon, firmware, board, and system software to diagnose failures, drive root cause analysis, and deliver fixes that improve reliability and production readiness.
This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, Canada, focused on hands-on lab bring-up, tool and automation development, and cross-team technical leadership.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The team may assess candidates at interview and align offers to the appropriate level, but this posting targets senior engineers with substantial post-silicon/debug experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead silicon, board, and system-level debug and bring-up activities for AI accelerator hardware and PCIe cards.
- Diagnose failures across power delivery, thermal behavior, GDDR/DDR memory, Ethernet/SerDes, PCIe, and NoC interconnects.
- Use lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers) to capture and analyze signals and events.
- Develop diagnostics, debug scripts, and automation to accelerate failure triage and root-cause analysis.
- Interpret schematics, datasheets, register states, telemetry, and firmware behavior to identify and validate fixes.
- Collaborate with ASIC design, firmware, software, and validation teams to implement corrective actions and verify solutions.
- Improve debug methodologies and build scalable infrastructure to reduce time-to-resolution.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Proven post-silicon validation, bring-up, and hands-on hardware debug experience in a lab environment.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C for developing diagnostics, automation, and test scripts.
- Practical experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and similar instrumentation.
- Experience debugging high-speed interfaces and subsystems: GDDR/DDR memory, PCIe, Ethernet/SerDes, NoC interconnects, power and thermal systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, registers, telemetry, and firmware interactions.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership to drive issues to resolution.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with AI accelerator platforms, PCIe cards, or large-scale system bring-up.
- Experience building scalable debug infrastructure, test automation frameworks, or diagnostic toolchains.
- Prior work on RISC-V-based systems or related ASIC platforms.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
