Sr Engineer, Process Engineering (Diffusion)
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and improving diffusion process formulations, methods, and controls in a semiconductor foundry environment. Works with equipment and materials teams to meet process module and technology specifications and supports continuous improvement and product development.
Individual contributor role collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet quality, schedule, and safety objectives.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typical experience varies by degree: BS + 2–4 years; MS + 1–3 years; PhD + 0–1 year.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and modify diffusion process formulations, methods, and process controls.
- Create, analyze, and review technical charts and process data.
- Establish SOPs and perform FMEA for related processes.
- Review product development requirements for process compatibility, cost, and schedule impact.
- Integrate equipment and material capabilities to meet technology specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement plans to improve process performance indices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver project and organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
- Support other projects and assignments as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical experience in semiconductor diffusion/process engineering or equivalent foundry experience.
- Knowledge of process control, process development, and fabrication operations.
- Experience establishing SOPs and conducting FMEA.
- Ability to analyze problems using standard engineering methods and resolve issues.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and using process performance metrics.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Commitment to safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience integrating equipment and materials for process modules.
- Prior semiconductor foundry or manufacturing engineering experience.
- Coaching or mentoring experience.
Education Requirements
Requires a technical (university) degree. Typical qualifications: Bachelor's (BS) + 2–4 years' experience; Master's (MS) + 1–3 years' experience; PhD + 0–1 year. Local exceptions may be approved for equivalent practical experience.
