Sr Engineer - Physical Design
Role Summary
Senior physical design engineer responsible for on-chip physical implementation and signoff of ASIC/SoC designs. Role sits within the ASIC Physical Design / Hardware Engineering team in Hyderabad and focuses on timing closure, PPA optimization, and floorplanning for production designs.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7+ years of relevant ASIC physical design experience or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities typically expected for this role include:
- Lead physical implementation tasks: floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, and ECOs.
- Drive timing closure and power/performance/area (PPA) optimization across design corners.
- Prepare and run signoff flows (STA, LVS/DRC coordination) and fix signoff issues.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and flows (Tcl/Python/shell) for P&R tasks.
- Collaborate with RTL, synthesis, verification, and backend teams to meet project schedules.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process and tool improvements.

- Experience with industry P&R and signoff tools and flows (experience with Synopsys/industry tools preferred).

- Demonstrated ability to perform timing closure and PPA tradeoffs.
- Effective communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with advanced process nodes and memory compiler integration.
- Experience optimizing for low power and multi-corner multi-mode signoff.
