Sr Engineer / Layout Engineer, Memory CAD — Guadalajara

Role Summary

Design and maintain IC physical-layout CAD software and automation to support memory product development (HBM, DRAM and related technologies). The role works with process and design teams to create layout primitives, automation scripts, and tapeout flows that ensure manufacturable memory designs.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 5 years of relevant experience in design automation or analog layout.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities focus on CAD development for physical design, layout automation, and verification for memory products.

• Develop, maintain, and support CAD software, utilities, and automation for layout and verification tasks.
• Build and validate parameterized cells (P‑cells), layout libraries, and related validation scripts.
• Design and automate physical-design, verification, optimization, and tapeout workflows.
• Collaborate with PI/process engineers and design teams to implement layout methodologies and address manufacturability.
• Apply CMOS process fundamentals and design-rule knowledge to layout and PDK-related tasks.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience follow; preferred skills are listed separately.

• 5+ years experience in design automation or analog layout.
• Proficiency in scripting/programming: SKILL or Python required; familiarity with C, C++, Java, Visual Basic, Perl, or Lisp is acceptable.
• Experience with Unix and shell scripting.
• Experience developing and validating PDKs and working with EDA tool flows.
• Practical experience creating layout automation, validation scripts, and P‑cells.
• Strong understanding of physical-design and verification processes for tapeout.

• Preferred: VLSI circuit design experience and proficiency with IC CAD tools for schematics, layout, simulation, and verification.
• Knowledge of CMOS trade-offs in area, speed, and power.
• Experience applying Machine Learning to IC design workflows or delivering production-grade ML applications in IC design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master’s or PhD preferred. Relevant fields: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
