Job Title
Sr Engineer, Failure Analysis Engg (Manufacturing/Quality)
Role Summary
Lead failure analysis activities for MEMS and inertial measurement products to identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and improve yield and reliability. Work with design, test, product, and quality teams and support customer returns, reliability assessments, and qualification efforts.
Experience Level
Senior β requires approximately five years of experience in failure analysis or reliability engineering in the semiconductor or electronics industry.
Responsibilities
Accountable for diagnosing and resolving product failures and for advancing failure analysis methods and lab capabilities.
- Plan and execute electrical, physical, mechanical, and environmental failure analyses on semiconductor devices and systems.
- Isolate faults and identify failure mechanisms for MEMS, analog/mixed-signal ICs, and IMU products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend corrective actions and support yield/quality improvements.
- Support customer returns, reliability testing, and qualification activities.
- Develop failure analysis reports, presentations, and technical summaries.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in failure analysis or reliability engineering in the semiconductor or electronics industry.
- Demonstrated expertise with bench test equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters) and automation using Python, LabView, or equivalent GUI automation tools.
- Proven experience with analog and mixed-signal ICs, MEMS sensors, IMU, or automotive-grade components.
- Experience in IC modeling and simulation using Cadence and Avalon.
- Hands-on failure isolation and analysis techniques such as OBIRCH, EMMI, TDR, XβRay, and thermal hotspot analysis; solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and transistor-level analog behavior.
- Experience with mechanical and chemical de-processing, parallel polishing, SEM, focused ion beam (FIB), passive voltage contrast (PVC), EDX, and in-situ nanoprobing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field; foreign education equivalent is acceptable. (The posting also specifies five years of relevant experience.)
