Sr EDA Application Engineer
Role Summary
Provide EDA application support for electromagnetic (EM) simulation across RFIC, package, and module development teams in Barcelona. Focus on troubleshooting EM simulation setups, resolving tool issues, supporting correlation and verification, and improving simulation workflows and environments.
This onsite role works closely with design, modeling, product teams and EDA vendors to ensure accurate, efficient EM simulation use during product development. This position is only open to candidates who have legal authorization to work in Spain.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5+ years of relevant experience in RF, microwave, electromagnetics, or simulation-related engineering.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day support and ensure efficient use of EM simulation tools.
- Support engineers with simulation setup, model creation, meshing, convergence, and result interpretation.
- Troubleshoot EM simulation tool issues, bugs, and workflow challenges.
- Collaborate with EDA vendors and internal teams to resolve software problems and improve usability.
- Maintain simulation environments, software releases, and computing resources.
- Execute EM simulations using available computing infrastructure and assist with resource allocation.
- Develop and deliver training and documentation to promote best practices.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in RF, microwave, electromagnetics, or simulation-related engineering.
- Working knowledge of electromagnetic theory, RF fundamentals, and numerical simulation methods.
- Experience with EM simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, or similar.
- Exposure to RFIC, MMIC, package, antenna, or RF module development.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Linux environments and high-performance computing systems.
- Basic Python scripting for automation and workflow integration.
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting engineering software applications.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline is required; Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent advanced education or practical experience is acceptable.
