Sr Director, Analog Mixed-Signal Design

Role Summary

Lead Marvell's Optical PHY (CE-OPHY) analog and mixed-signal design effort in San Diego, building and scaling a new local design organization. Responsible for technical direction, team hiring, and delivery of high-speed optical transceiver analog IP and prototypes for long-haul, metro, and datacenter applications.

Focus on achieving targets for bandwidth, capacity, power and performance through robust circuit design, verification and lab validation.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include technical leadership, team building, and ensuring design quality.

  • Build and scale the San Diego analog/mixed-signal design organization; recruit, mentor and coach engineers.
  • Provide technical direction and hands-on guidance to engineering teams.
  • Supervise and guide layout activities to ensure design accuracy and performance.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews to ensure quality and compliance with requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful project execution.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of design processes, results and best practices.
  • Oversee lab testing and prototype evaluation against design specifications.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and demonstrated track record; nice-to-have items noted where appropriate.

  • Hands-on expertise in mixed-signal circuit design: ADCs, DACs, RX/TX front-ends, PLLs, filters, bandgap bias circuits, regulators and related analog blocks.
  • Deep knowledge of deep sub-micron CMOS technologies.
  • Experience with low-power and high-speed analog design techniques.
  • Proficiency with IC design and simulation tools such as Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB, HSim, Verilog and related CAD flows.
  • Practical lab testing and prototype validation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and apply innovative solutions and engineering best practices.
  • Specialized depth and/or breadth in analog/mixed-signal architectures for high-speed optical transceivers.

Education Requirements
