Sr. DFT Engineer, Amazon Leo
AmazonJob Title
Sr. DFT Engineer, Amazon Leo
Role Summary
Work on Amazon LEO’s ASIC team to define and implement digital System-on-Chip (SoC) DFT solutions for low-earth-orbit communications. The role partners with modem, high-speed interface, embedded processor, DSP, RFIC, implementation and test teams to achieve testability, timing, and power targets for advanced CMOS nodes.
Due to export-control requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders), refugees, or granted asylum.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 5+ years experience in advanced DFT techniques; 7+ years preferred.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on DFT architecture, cross-team integration, verification, and test bring-up for mixed-signal SoCs.
- Architect and specify DFT solutions tailored to various LEO chip designs.
- Customize IP and DFT methodology; adopt AI/ML enhancements to the DFT flow.
- Work with ASIC design teams to insert and validate DFT logic (MBIST, clock controls, JTAG controllers).
- Collaborate with RFIC engineers to maximize fault coverage for custom RF blocks.
- Ensure blocks meet DFT, timing, and power targets with implementation teams.
- Coordinate with Test engineering to translate ATE patterns and support tester format conversion.
- Support joint bring-up of digital portions of LEO chips with the test team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: 5+ years of experience with advanced DFT techniques for deep sub-micron nodes.
- Must-have: Experience implementing DFT methodology and developing automated scripts for DFT insertion and validation.
- Must-have: Practical experience working with ASIC implementation and test teams; familiarity with ATE pattern translation.
- Must-have: Ability to collaborate with RFIC and mixed-signal engineers to improve test coverage.
- Must-have: Eligibility per export-control: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Nice-to-have: 7+ years in DFT with exposure to Logic BIST and automated validation flows.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with automotive-quality processes and single-digit DPPM targets.
- Nice-to-have: Experience developing AI/ML-based automation to improve DFT implementation workflows.
Education Requirements
Basic qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering. Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical/Communications Engineering or a closely related technical field.
