Sr. DFT Engineer, Amazon LEO

Role Summary

Member of the Amazon LEO team responsible for defining and implementing digital SoCs for Low Earth Orbit satellite communications and gateway devices. The role architects DFT strategies for high-speed, mixed-signal chips and coordinates across ASIC implementation, RFIC, and test engineering teams.

Experience Level

Senior - requires approximately 5+ years of relevant DFT experience; 7+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and integrate DFT features across digital and mixed-signal blocks and collaborate with implementation and test teams to achieve testability, timing, and power targets.

• Architect and define DFT solutions tailored to LEO SoCs.
• Customize IPs and DFT methodology and incorporate AI-assisted flows for DFT insertion and validation.
• Collaborate with ASIC implementation teams to insert MBIST, clock control logic, JTAG controllers, and other DFT structures.
• Work with RFIC engineers to maximize fault coverage for custom RF/mixed-signal blocks.
• Ensure blocks meet DFT, timing, and power targets during implementation and signoff.
• Translate ATE patterns to tester formats and support joint bring-up of digital portions of chips with the test team.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and core skills for immediate contribution.

• 5+ years of experience in advanced DFT techniques targeting deep sub-micron nodes, including practical experience with DFT insertion and validation automation.
• Experience developing automated scripts and flows for DFT insertion and validation.
• Hands-on experience with MBIST, clock control logic, and JTAG/test access architectures.
• Proven ability to collaborate with RFIC and mixed-signal teams to achieve high fault coverage.
• Experience converting ATE patterns to tester formats and supporting production test bring-up.
• Export control requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred / nice-to-have

• Exposure to Logic BIST and other scan/BIST-based solutions.
• Experience with automotive-quality processes and achieving low DPPM targets.
• Familiarity with mixed-signal and RFIC design constraints as they affect DFT.
• Experience developing automation flows that use AI/ML to improve DFT implementation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering is listed as the baseline, or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering. Preferred qualifications mention a Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical / Communications Engineering.
