Sr Design Engineering Manager
Role Summary
Lead a controller IP development team in Cork responsible for architecting and delivering complex silicon IP (UCIe, Ethernet, HBM, PCIe) from micro‑architecture through RTL sign‑off. Work across product management, system architects, analog and software teams to define specifications, ensure quality and represent the team in standards bodies and industry forums.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 15–20 years of experience in the microelectronics industry; experienced technical and people leader.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical delivery, architecture, and cross‑team coordination for controller IP products.
- Provide technical leadership for complex IP such as UCIe, Ethernet, HBM and PCIe.
- Define architecture and specifications with system architects and product managers, balancing data rate, power and standards compliance.
- Lead RTL development from micro‑architecture through IP sign‑off for release.
- Plan activities and milestones for digital development teams.
- Lead cross‑functional technical meetings with analog and software counterparts.
- Support customer pre‑sales and post‑sales technical engagements.
- Develop and improve processes and procedures for product execution and IP quality.
- Participate in technical reviews and ISO‑9001 checklist reviews.
- Represent the company in standards working groups and present at industry conferences.
Requirements
Must‑have technical skills and leadership experience. Preferences listed separately.
- 15–20 years' relevant experience in the microelectronics industry.
- Expert in Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL design.
- Expertise with front‑end design tools: LINT, synthesis, CDC/RDC analysis.
- Experience with SoC architecture and integration.
- Proven technical team leadership and project planning skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to communicate complex concepts clearly.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Metric Driven Verification (MDV) and UVM.
- Familiarity with industry protocols such as AXI, CHI‑C2C and CXS.B.
- Experience with quality and functional-safety processes (ISO‑9001, ISO‑26262).
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Education Requirements
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, microelectronics, or a related discipline (as stated in the posting).
