Sr CAD Engineer (Digital)
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and driving design-for-test (DFT) and front-end digital CAD methodologies for corporate digital flows. Partner with global CAD methodology teams to automate and integrate flows and provide technical consultation to business units to ensure successful tapeouts.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in digital CAD, DFT, and EDA tool flows.
Responsibilities
Deliver and maintain robust CAD methodologies and automation to support digital design and tapeouts.
- Define and implement DFT and front-end digital CAD methodologies using EDA tools (e.g., Siemens, Cadence, Synopsys).
- Automate and integrate CAD flows for centralized deployment across business units.
- Support global CAD methodology development and provide technical guidance to design teams throughout RTL-to-GDSII flow.
- Troubleshoot and debug vendor tool issues and interact with EDA vendors and designers to resolve problems.
- Ensure methodologies support advanced nanometer and FinFET process technologies and large SoC tapeouts.
- Collaborate with distributed teams; communicate requirements and influence design development.
- Travel approximately 10% as required to support teams and tapeouts.
Requirements
Required technical skills and proven experience for the role.
- Must-have: Proven experience developing CAD/DfT solutions and methodologies for synthesis and DFT using Siemens, Cadence, or Synopsys tool suites.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with digital implementation flows (RTL to GDSII) and involvement in multi-million gate SoC tapeouts at advanced nodes.
- Must-have: Experience with Cadence synthesis and formal equivalence tools (e.g., Genus, Conformal).
- Must-have: Strong automation skills using TCL and Python; experience with PERL and Tk is desirable.
- Must-have: Ability to debug EDA tool issues and provide practical workarounds; experience liaising with EDA vendors.
- Nice-to-have: Prior work on advanced FinFET process technologies and large-scale SOC projects.
- Nice-to-have: Experience integrating CAD flows for centralized corporate deployment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with global teams.
- May require export-licensing review for access to certain technical data; non-U.S. applicants may be subject to additional review.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Micro-Electronics, or a related engineering field; or equivalent practical experience.
