Sr Application Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Application Engineering team to support customer adoption and deployment of Cadence custom IC design flows based on Virtuoso and Spectre. The role interfaces with semiconductor customers to resolve technical issues, run demonstrations and evaluations, and promote methodology and workflow improvements.
This customer-facing position collaborates with R&D, Product Engineering and Marketing to drive product improvements and increase product adoption.
Experience Level
Senior; typically 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in IC design, CAD, or application/technical support roles.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Support customers in adopting and deploying Cadence custom IC design flows built on Virtuoso and Spectre.
- Engage with customers to understand design challenges and recommend technical solutions and best practices.
- Run product demonstrations, evaluations, benchmarking and technical campaigns.
- Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering and Marketing to communicate customer needs and drive product improvements.
- Provide technical guidance on mixed-signal design methodologies and flows.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- 3–5 years of industry experience in IC design, CAD, or application/technical support.
- Strong understanding of analog or mixed-signal IC design flows within the Cadence Virtuoso environment.
- Experience working in a UNIX environment.
- Familiarity with scripting (SKILL, Python or similar) is advantageous.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
