Sr AI Runtime Architect - Neuromorphic Computing
Intel CorporationJob Title
Sr AI Runtime Architect - Neuromorphic Computing
Role Summary
Lead the architecture and implementation of Intel's neuromorphic AI runtime stack for edge and robotic systems, owning the roadmap, execution behavior, and integration with compilers, firmware, drivers, and AI/robotics frameworks.
The role is a hands-on technical leadership position inside a vertically integrated incubation team focused on commercializing neuromorphic hardware and software for real-world products.
Experience Level
Senior - expects substantial leadership and hands-on experience (examples in Qualifications: 10+ years developing systems software; 5+ years in AI runtime architecture and leading technical teams).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for the role include:
- Define and drive technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for the runtime stack from firmware to framework integration.
- Architect and develop runtime components, performance tooling, and execution behavior for both host-attached and standalone devices.
- Specify and own contracts/interfaces between runtime and compiler, and integrate with industry AI and robotics frameworks.
- Measure and own performance, real-time behavior, and production quality across silicon and simulators.
- Collaborate with compiler, hardware, application teams, customers, and partners to translate workload requirements into runtime capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership: establish engineering practices, mentor engineers, and guide cross-functional delivery.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years developing and shipping AI runtime software for accelerators, GPUs, or comparable hardware (examples: OpenVINO, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, Ryzen AI) with familiarity of drivers and firmware.
- 5+ years leading architecture of complex software systems and defining interfaces to adjacent components.
- 5+ years owning performance and production quality of accelerator software, including profiling, benchmarking, and cross-boundary debugging.
- 5+ years providing technical leadership to engineering teams, including mentoring and leading cross-functional delivery.
- 10+ years hands-on developing production-grade systems software in C/C++; proficiency in Python; disciplined engineering practices (code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD).
- 1+ years using AI agents to assist design, implementation, testing, or code review in production workflows.
- Strong collaboration skills with compiler, hardware, and application teams to convert workload requirements into runtime capabilities.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience managing engineering teams (hiring, development).
- Familiarity with internals of OpenVINO, oneAPI Level Zero, or comparable accelerator stacks.
- Experience with spatial, dataflow, or statically scheduled accelerators and compiler-driven placement/scheduling.
- Experience with robotics or real-time systems (deterministic execution, ROS 2, Holoscan).
- Experience integrating functional or performance simulators into accelerator stacks.
- Familiarity with device driver and firmware development for embedded Linux or RTOS.
- Experience in HW/SW co-design or performance modeling.
Education Requirements
BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
