Sr. AI/ML Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Sr. AI/ML Engineer
Role Summary
Build, scale, and deploy an AI-assisted silicon design framework that accelerates the specification-to-netlist lifecycle. The role sits at the intersection of production software engineering, AI orchestration, and hardware infrastructure and partners closely with IP and SoC teams to deliver production-grade engineering solutions.
Primary location: Austin, TX; hybrid arrangements available.
Experience Level
Senior level. (Title indicates senior; no explicit years-of-experience stated.)
Responsibilities
Deliver production-ready AI-driven tooling and infrastructure to support silicon IP and SoC development:
- Design and deploy modular AI agent architectures for task decomposition, structured tool usage, and iterative code generation across the spec-to-RTL lifecycle.
- Develop and optimize multi-step agent workflows: prompt orchestration, context and state management, and error handling for complex engineering tasks.
- Implement and scale hybrid retrieval systems (RAG pipelines, knowledge graphs) to ground agents in hardware specifications and protocols.
- Build closed-loop automation that interprets compiler and EDA tool outputs (lint, simulation) for iterative design refinement.
- Integrate LLMs with external tools and infrastructure using Model Context Protocol (MCP) and custom APIs with secure, low-latency interfaces.
- Partner with IP and subsystem teams to incorporate AI-driven workflows into existing silicon development processes.
- Establish automated evaluation and validation pipelines for correctness, synthesis readiness, and power/performance/area (PPA) targets.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints:
- Production experience developing AI/LLM applications and agent-based systems.
- Hands-on experience with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar.
- Strong API development skills and experience integrating LLMs with external systems and tooling.
- Practical experience with Linux-based development environments and interacting with EDA tools.
- Strong software engineering in Python, C++, Go, or similar; experience building scalable, secure, modular systems.
- Experience building low-latency infrastructures and secure integrations for model/tool calls; familiarity with MCP preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate with hardware/IP teams and deliver auditable, deterministic workflows with robust error handling.
- This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have:
- Foundational understanding of silicon IP design and verification workflows (exposure to Verilog/SystemVerilog or digital design concepts).
- Familiarity with specific EDA vendors (Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens) and hardware toolchains.
- Experience with knowledge graphs, retrieval systems, and automated evaluation frameworks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
