Software Program Manager
Role Summary
Lead execution and software readiness for Data Center SoC software programs spanning architecture, silicon, firmware, embedded software, system and platform software, validation, and productization from concept through production.
Work within Qualcomm's Datacenter organization focused on server, AI, and networking platforms to align software milestones with silicon delivery and product release objectives.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Guidance: typically 4+ years of program management experience and extensive semiconductor/SoC software or firmware experience (examples in posting include 5β8+ years in related roles).
Responsibilities
Drive planning, coordination, and delivery of complex SoC software programs and provide executive visibility on status and risks.
- Develop and manage integrated Plans of Record, schedules, dependencies, milestones, and release plans.
- Coordinate execution across architecture, ASIC, firmware, embedded software, system/software, platform software, validation, and productization teams.
- Drive software readiness: feature maturity, bring-up readiness, validation readiness, and production readiness aligned to silicon milestones.
- Track critical dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans; identify and escalate cross-functional execution risks.
- Lead software readiness reviews, milestone and executive program reviews; present status to senior leadership.
- Establish execution frameworks for requirements traceability, release governance, and lifecycle management.
- Represent the program to internal stakeholders and external ecosystem partners to ensure alignment and execution.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and execution skills for semiconductor/SoC software programs.
- Direct experience managing software execution for Data Center SoCs, CPUs, AI accelerators, networking silicon, server platforms, or equivalent semiconductor firmware/software programs.
- Proven ability to drive software readiness across firmware, embedded software, system software, platform software, validation, and productization organizations.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor product development lifecycles including pre-silicon enablement, silicon bring-up, platform integration, validation, and productization.
- Strong familiarity with Linux system software, virtualization, firmware, platform enablement, and system integration.
- Experience managing complex dependencies, execution risks, milestone planning, and software release readiness for advanced semiconductor products.
- Strong communication and influence skills to coordinate large cross-functional engineering organizations and engage senior/executive stakeholders.
- Onsite in San Diego, 5 days per week.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARM-based processors, server CPUs, AI accelerators, DPUs/NPUs, SmartNICs, or related datacenter technologies.
- Experience using program management tools (dashboards, Gantt charts) and presenting to director-level or executive leadership.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. PMP certification listed as preferred.
