Software/Firmware Engineer Intern
Role Summary
Join the Central Engineering AMS‑IP firmware team to develop embedded firmware for SerDes PHY and other analog mixed‑signal IP. The role involves firmware module development, verification, CI/CD, and cross‑functional collaboration with design, application, and SoC teams.
Expected pay: CAD 32–43 per hour. Candidates may require eligibility to access export‑controlled technology; export license review may apply.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Targeted at 3rd–4th year undergraduate or Master's students; suitable for candidates with limited professional firmware experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for the intern position:
- Develop and verify firmware modules for Marvell SerDes IP.
- Produce firmware source code, build scripts, and module design/specification documents.
- Perform debugging, bring‑up, and production firmware tasks.
- Implement and improve CI/CD processes (for example, Jenkins).
- Collaborate with firmware, design, application, and SoC teams to integrate and test firmware.
Requirements
Core technical skills and desirable experience.
- Must-have: Knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded firmware design, development, and debugging.
- Must-have: Strong Python programming skills.
- Must-have: Good technical communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Nice-to-have: Experience programming microcontrollers and C/C++ in bare‑metal embedded environments.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins).
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with chip simulation/verification, SerDes technology, PCIe host interfaces, or AI/ML concepts.
Education Requirements
BS (3rd or 4th‑year) undergraduate student or Master's student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
