Software Engineering Manager - GPU Communications Libraries

Role Summary

Manage and provide technical leadership for the GPU Communications Libraries and Networking team responsible for libraries such as NVSHMEM and UCX that enable scalable GPU-to-GPU communication for Deep Learning and HPC workloads.

Accountable for team growth, project planning and execution, and the performance and quality of communication libraries used across large-scale GPU clusters.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 10+ years of software industry experience with specialization in HPC networking or system software and 4+ years of management experience.

Responsibilities

The manager will lead a library engineering team, drive technical direction, and coordinate across partners to deliver performant communication software.

  • Lead, mentor, and grow an engineering team; own planning, execution, and delivery of library projects.
  • Contribute to feature design and participate in implementation and code reviews.
  • Ensure library correctness, performance, scalability, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with internal/external partners, researchers, program/product management to define roadmap and requirements.
  • Continuously improve processes, infrastructure, and engineering practices for efficiency and transparency.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, leadership experience, and practical capabilities for this role.

  • 10+ years in software with specialization in HPC networking or system software.
  • 4+ years of people management experience.
  • Proven experience delivering systems software, communication runtimes, or high-performance networking products through the full product lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of computer system architecture, operating systems principles, HW–SW interactions, and performance analysis/optimization.
  • Excellent C/C++ programming and debugging skills on Linux.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and competing priorities across teams and time zones.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field-or equivalent practical experience.
