Software Engineering Intern, SWR

Role Summary

Internship on the Software R&D team within Global Operations focused on Design Automation applications. The intern will work with mentors to develop Python-based tools, GUIs using Qt, and integrations with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and existing APIs.

This is a practical, project-oriented role intended to provide hands-on software engineering experience in an industrial EDA environment.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

• Design and implement custom Python applications for internal workflows.
• Develop integrated graphical user interfaces (Qt).
• Integrate and run code within EDA tools and associated APIs.
• Write and maintain unit tests and follow documented best practices.
• Debug, profile, and troubleshoot software using IDEs and tools.
• Provide support to internal customers and resolve technical issues.
• Collaborate with mentors and team members to deliver project outcomes.

Requirements

Must-have skills and constraints:

• Proficiency in Python; familiarity with C++ is required.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving skills, and understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience using IDEs for development and troubleshooting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Availability for the stated internship duration: approximately 9 months (full-time for first 3 months, part-time for subsequent 6 months).
• Position is only open to candidates with legal authorization to work in Spain.

Education Requirements

Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program is expected; the posting specifically mentions Computer Science (College of Engineering). Candidates should be current college students in a relevant technical program.
